dA Downloading

I can't be the only one who thinks this should be something controllable by the artist uploading their work... I don't know - call me paranoid - but I don't really like the fact that my writing and art can be downloaded by anyone and I won't know who and they won't need my permission to own my stuff. WHY, might I ask, is this a permanent feature? And what, if anything, has dA done to try and make sure its artists aren't stolen from?

I hope I'm just missing something, for lack of experience with dA. And if so, I'd love to be enlightened. If not, I don't know... Protecting my art is too important to me.

By the way, if someone wants to use my stuff, I'd at least like to know how/where and be credited for my own creations. Ask permission, and as long as you put my name on it, I'll be all too happy to spread it around.

In art, I express myself mostly through drawings and poetry, but recently I've discovered a love for photography. Unfortunately, my products are Novice status as I have not the tools to create what I'm really seeing in my head, but I do what I can with my little dinky HP Photosmart M447. Yeah... Not impressive at all, hah. I'm always open to critique and criticism, but lets keep it on the constructive side, shall we?
